Privacy Policy

Last Updated: May 27, 2026

1. Introduction

This Privacy Policy explains how simply.clothing ("the App") collects, uses, and protects your personal information. Your privacy is important to us, and we are committed to being transparent about our data practices. This policy is effective as of May 26, 2026.

2. Data We Collect

We collect the following types of information to provide and improve our services:

  • Email Address: Used for account creation, authentication, and communication about your account and our services.
  • Photos: Images of wardrobe items you upload to catalog and organize your clothing. These photos are stored securely and used to power app features.
  • Contacts: With your explicit permission, we may access your contacts to enable social features such as inviting friends and sharing outfits.
  • Usage Data: We collect information about how you interact with the App, including features used and actions taken. This helps us improve the App and your experience.

3. How We Use Your Data

We use your data for the following purposes:

  • Wardrobe Management and Organization: To help you catalog, categorize, and browse your clothing items.
  • AI-Powered Outfit Suggestions and Styling: To provide personalized outfit recommendations using Google Gemini AI technology.
  • Social Features: To enable sharing outfits with friends, sending friend invites, and discovering style inspiration from your network.
  • Service Improvement and Analytics: To understand how the App is used, identify areas for improvement, and enhance overall functionality and user experience.

4. Legal Basis for Processing

Under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), we process your personal data on the following legal bases:

  • Article 6(1)(b) — Contract Performance: Processing necessary to provide the App and fulfill your account requests.
  • Article 6(1)(a) — Consent: Processing based on your explicit consent (e.g., contact access, marketing communications).
  • Article 6(1)(f) — Legitimate Interests: Processing for service improvement, analytics, and abuse prevention. This includes maintaining a banned users table that stores the SHA-256 hash of email addresses only (no personally identifiable information). This processing is necessary to prevent fraud, abuse, and unauthorized access to the App. The legitimate interest in protecting our service and users outweighs any privacy impact, as only hashed email addresses are retained.

5. Data Retention

We retain your personal data according to the following schedule:

  • Account Data: Retained for the duration of your account. Upon account deletion, we delete your data within 30 days, except where required by law.
  • Usage Data: Retained for up to 12 months to support analytics and service improvement.
  • Banned Users Hash: Retained indefinitely. This table stores only the SHA-256 hash of email addresses and is retained under Article 6(1)(f) legitimate interests to prevent abuse and unauthorized access. The indefinite retention is justified because the hash cannot be reversed to identify individuals, and the security benefit of maintaining an abuse prevention list outweighs the minimal privacy impact.

6. Third-Party Processors

We share your data with the following third-party processors to operate the App:

  • Supabase: Provides backend infrastructure, including authentication, database services, and secure data storage. Data shared: email address, photos, usage data, and account information.
  • Google Gemini: Powers our AI-driven styling features. Data shared: wardrobe photos and user preferences for outfit analysis and recommendations.
  • Apple: Delivers push notifications about outfit suggestions, friend activity, and account updates. Data shared: device token and notification preferences.

Each of these services has its own privacy policy governing their use of data. We have data processing agreements in place with all processors to ensure your data is protected.

9. Global Privacy Rights
